We treat 11 properties in Florence this season. Seven visits a season for yards from the Mill River neighborhoods out toward Leeds, with tick work included.
Florence grew up along the Mill River, back when this corner of northwestern Northampton was still called Broughton's Meadow. The river still runs through the village, and Look Park, more than 150 acres and the largest park in greater Northampton, is here too. The Northampton Bikeway ties Florence to downtown in one direction and to Leeds in the other. Shaded river banks, big trees and long grassy edges give mosquitos plenty of daytime cover and give ticks plenty of places to wait.
We treat Florence yards as part of our Northampton-area work, from our shop in South Hadley. The first visit starts with a walk: the tech finds where your mosquitos rest during the day, usually dense shrubs, the shady side of the house and the space under a deck, and treats those spots rather than just the open lawn.
Ticks in Florence favor the same places they do across the Valley: leaf litter, tall grass, brushy borders and stone walls, especially where a yard meets trees. Tick control comes with every BML mosquito visit at no extra charge, so the seven visits from late April through October cover both. Yards that back onto the river or onto a stand of trees have more of that edge habitat, so the tech spends more of the visit along those borders.

A BML tech meets you at the property, identifies hotspots, and gives you a firm price. No pressure.
Once you're on the schedule, the first treatment usually goes in within 7-10 days. Dry time is 30-45 min.
We come back every ~21 days through October. You don't have to think about it — we handle the rest.
Yes. Florence is a village in the northwestern part of the city of Northampton, in Hampshire County. We take on yards throughout Florence, Leeds and the rest of Northampton, and you get a text or email the day before each visit.
Once the spray has dried, typically 30-45 minutes. The materials we use are EPA-registered for residential yards, and we do not treat flowering plants during active bloom, to limit contact with bees and other pollinators.
Every yard is different, so we don't publish a flat rate. It comes down to the size of your yard and how much edge habitat there is. We'll walk the property, measure what actually needs treating, and send you a firm written price before any work starts. The quote is free, and you decide.
