Irrigation FAQ

Straight answers to the questions we hear most from Western Mass homeowners.

How much does a new irrigation system cost in Western MA?

It depends on the size of the lawn, the number of zones, your water source, and the controller you want. After a site visit we design the system and give you a firm written price — no allowances, no surprises.

When should I start up my irrigation system in spring?

Mid-April to early May in Western Mass, once overnight temperatures stay consistently above freezing. We pressurize the system, walk every head, adjust coverage, and set the schedule for the season.

When do I need a fall blowout?

Before the first hard freeze — typically mid-October through early November. If water is left in the pipes it can freeze, expand, and crack lines and fittings. Book early; the calendar fills fast.

How much does a sprinkler head repair cost?

Most repairs are priced per visit plus parts. A broken head, a cracked lateral line, or a leaking valve are all common and usually quick. We tell you the price before we start.

What is a smart irrigation controller and is it worth it?

Smart controllers watch local weather and skip watering when it rains, adjust run times by season, and let you see everything in an app. For most properties they pay for themselves in water savings and a healthier lawn.

Will installing irrigation damage my lawn?

Minimal. We use a vibratory plow that slices the sod and tucks the pipe underneath — the lawn heals within a few weeks. Heads and valve boxes are set flush so mowing isn't affected.

Do you service existing systems you didn't install?

Yes. We work on Rain Bird, Hunter, Toro, Irritrol and most major brands. If your original installer is gone, we can take it over.
